A case of delayed gratification

Hello!

I have always heard that good things come to those who wait.

I am very good at creating my wishlist and slowly and carefully choosing what I pick off the list each time.

BUT.
THIS TIME.
I DIDN'T WANT TO BE GOOD.
I DIDN'T WANT TO WAIT.

But I had to, because the stamps I wanted sold out overnight when they were released (overnight for me, in a few hours during the day in the USA). I'm talking about the "new" Altenew stamps. They aren't quite as new now. But they are brand new for me, because the very first day they were restocked, I jumped online and ordered... and today is the day that they arrived in my mailbox... right in time for the long week-end! Yippee!!!

In an even bigger case of delayed gratification, I only bought two sets. I wanted them all. My budget wouldn't allow me to buy them all at once. You should have seen me agonising over which sets would make the cut, lol!

The cards I'm bringing you now are made using Hennah Elements. Oh my goodness. I don't know that I have been so excited about a stamp set for quite a while. This is superb! The first two cards I made, which I'm bringing you now, I decided to go with the henna tattoo theme. My cards are skin-coloured (PTI Fine Linen) with black patterns.
Hennah Elements is such a versatile set. I think the patterns you can create must be limitless.
Edit to add: I just noticed that my bloggy friend Darnell has reached 500 followers (she has lots of friends besides me!) and is celebrating with a NBUS challenge. Well my brand new stamps mean I qualify for this challenge, so I'm joining in. I'm joining in mostly because Darnell is one of the sweetest and funniest ladies out there in blogland. I have been blessed to get to know her and to receive some of her cards in the mail... which reminds me, I should send her a card to let her know I have not forgotten her. ;-) Congratulations, Darnell!

Thank you for visiting, and putting up with my gushing!

Ooooh, boy, see what I mean? I have been religiously avoiding going to the Altenew site, even though I've seen some gorgeous makes with the images. But, now. Please. More NBUS will be entering the Playhouse! Your cards are so crisp and the black on that fine linen is fabulous!! It looks like you did them by hand with a cartridge ink pen!

Thank you so much for the gushing you did on my behalf, Michelle! Mwah! I appreciate it very much and thank you for playing in my inaugural NBUS challenge!

Hugs, Darnell

Your making me jealous!! I ordered my stamps three weeks ago but they haven't arrived yet (I'm in New Zealand), starting to get worried they have gone walk-about in the mail. Your cards look amazing and hope my cards look as good as yours!

These are both fabulous, and just prove that being patient is a good thing (and jumping on line the minute something is restocked is an even better thing!!). Pinning both of these beauties for when I make my next Altenew order.

Whoa - OK, you've convinced me. Apparently the quality is just as great as the design on Altenew. I'm waiting til I visit the US this summer. I agree, I could envision owning each of the sets.

Yay, Henna Elements! I just bought this stamp set from Altenew. It looks great on kraft paper! what black ink did you use to get such crisp, dark impressions?

Great cards, caught my eye immediately at Darnell's NBUS challenge.

Hi, Michelle, thanks for answering on my blog. I use Tuxedo Black for images to color in, but usually use VersaFine Onyx Black or StazOn if I want a really dark impression.

Did you do anything to condition the stamps before using them? I usually run over my clear stamps with an emery board, and then stamp off a couple times with VersaFine. Because it's oil based, I guess, it seems to cling to the surface of the stamp and rough it up a little bit.

Lovely use of the stamp. I think this is a new company as of April and the Henna elements is in the first release. I saw several great new stamps in the July release they just announced. Went looking for pins for the stamps being used and found your WONDERFUL cards. Thanks so much for sharing this.

Hi Michelle,
For the second card can you please give a hint as to how you made the half flower on top of the vine? I think it is awesome and would like to replicate it. Thank you
