Hello!
Day 9 over at Clean & Simple Card Making 2 included a couple of tutorials by the fabulous Julie Ebersole about using glitter to create texture. Julie demonstrated using distress paints to create a watercoloured background. Since I don't have distress-ANYTHING, I had to use what I have, so I used an Inktense pencil (and a liberal application of water with the water brush) to create my background. Cadmium Orange to be precise. I used my glitter to be my star trail, and it sparkles SO MUCH in real life!
The stamps are from Papertrey Ink Star Prints.
My husband got all technical on me and told me you don't usually see shooting stars at sunset. I told him that I have seen them at sunset before. His reply was, "Not black ones..." Smarty pants! I love it, regardless of the colour technicalities. ;-)
Thanks for coming by to visit!

Sunset or no sunset, I love the fab design and bold colours!
I agree with Marianne - love the design and the bright, bold colors!
I love the effect you achieved with the watercolor, Michelle!! Fantastic glitter trails, too! Well done and congrats on your student spotlight. That oughta make your husband rethink his commentary. hahaha... :)
Holy cow--I miss your blog for a few days, and I see that you have been on a roll. Everything is just wonderful. I had the same thing happen to me when I tried the one layer plaid! But, only a card maker would care if it were actually one layer or not. So, mine wasn't...
It's called "artistic license!!!" Such a fun card, especially with the happy yellow. Love your treatment on this one, Michelle!

The conversation with your husband gave me a good chuckle! Your background turned out so lovely! And for me, I just love your idea of the glittered star trails.
