WCMD - Rainbow Backgrounds

Hello!

For my next card World Card Making Day I have taken inspiration again from the Winnie & Walter WCMD celebrations.

This card was inspired by three of my stops along the W&W WCMD journey:
1 Rainbow Colour with Gayatri - who can resist a rainbow? Certainly not me!
Leading Lady Maya Isaksson - oh my! I fell in love with all of Maya's cards with the stamps in black and white and the colourful backgrounds!
3 Background Building with Shay - Shay built a variety of backgrounds to start us on our way, and they're all fabulous!
I used Altenew Striped Florals and PTI Scripted stamps. I stamped the sentiment and main flower on a vellum panel and created a black frame. I created my rainbow with Derwent Inktense pencils.
It was a bit difficult to photograph this one. With the right light for the black embossing, I lost all my colour. With the right light for the colour, my black went funny. Here's another view.
I'm also linking up to Happy Little Stampers October CAS Challenge - embossing on vellum.
Thanks for dropping by to visit!

CASEing Kelly Blog Hop

Hello!

There is a fabulous blog hop underway! Kelly Latevola has been running an awesome series called CASEing Genius. I was one of the lucky ones who she CASEd. There are quite a few of us. I think Kelly is the Genius! We all do, which is why we thought we'd pay the compliment back and CASE Kelly. So much fun! We've each chosen three of Kelly's cards and CASEd them. I cannot wait to hop around and see what everyone else came up with.

For my inspiration I chose these three cards of Kelly's.

I love everything that Kelly makes, but her florals are at the top of my loves! From these three cards, I took dramatic colours; watercoloured, splattered, and patterned backgrounds; a bold sentiment paired with a sentiment banner. I used a darker, grungier style than Kelly and I came up with this:
I used Altenew Striped Florals,Wplus9 Whole Lotta Happy, and Hero Arts Dots and Flowers Background stamps.

What is a blog hop without some fun prizes? Leave a comment by 11.59pm EDT on Thursday October 29th along each stop in the hop to increase your chances of winning a prize from one of our sponsors:

CAS(E) This Sketch 135

Hello!

As you read this, I will be finishing up my work week in Melbourne! I haven't been to Melbourne for about five years. Unfortunately, my work load means that I won't see much of it this time around, boo! I checked the forecast, it's set to be cold and wet. I hope the weather-forecaster is wrong, but it IS Melbourne in Winter time. ;-)

As opposed to when I went to Sydney a couple of weeks ago, this time I organised myself to have my card made and ready for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge, yay!
I used Altenew Striped Florals stamps and did a little colouring with Copics. The sentiment is from an old PTI mini set.
What an awesome sketch! These ladies I am blessed to work with on the Design Team are really super-talented at drawing sketches as well as being lovely people all round! They also make fabulous cards, but you don't need to take my word for it, you can go and visit yourself. :-)

Thank-you for visiting! If you're curious about my Melbourne adventures, I'm sure to share a photo or two on Instagram (I'm @amusingmichelle). Probably photos taken walking between hotel and work building, lol!

CAS(E) This Sketch 126

Hello!

When I saw the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch for this week, I envisioned a layered creation. Somehow I made a one-layer card instead, and managed to stamp the sentiment in the wrong spot, but I like it there, lol!
I used Altenew Striped Florals stamps with a little masking and coloured with Copics. The sentiment is from SU! Regarding Dahlias. I drew the frame with a Copic Multiliner.
Winter arrived this week. It snowed on Monday night down south (around Canberra and the snowfields) and the cold air made its way up here shortly afterwards. On the week-end we were in t-shirts and feeling hot, this week the mornings have had fresh 1 degree starts some days. It still gets to a very warm 20 degrees during the day, but the starts are slightly chilly (especially with no heating in the home).

Thanks for dropping by!

Fusion - a little collage

Hello!

Somehow it's Thursday again. I don't know how time does that. A week passes in the blink of an eye.

I'm here for the new Fusion Card Challenge. When I saw the inspiration photo, I fell in love with the colours - cream, grey, and yellow - which I don't believe I've ever used together before. Looking at that background script, I decided I'd try out a little collage style stamping.
I used PTI Background Basics: Text Style, PTI Harvest Berries, Altenew Striped Florals, and MFT Blue Skies stamps. How's that for a collection of designers? ;-)
I hope you are inspired to join in the fun this challenge. This inspiration is so pretty! I love that bow! The sketch is pretty awesome too. I might need to go back and visit that one myself.

Thanks for visiting.

Exploring Striped Florals

Hello!

I had a couple of days off this week leading into the Easter week-end. My kids started school holidays on Wednesday and I decided to take a couple of days off and have a couple of my girls' friends over. We don't get many play dates because life is usually a bit too busy, so this was special. My littlest (7 years old) had her first friend sleeping over last night. They did pretty well, considering the excitement level. They remembered their manners, went to bed at 9pm (a late bedtime as a treat), and finally went to sleep at 11pm when I roused at them for too much activity and giggling. ;-)  My eldest had her friend over today and I didn't see them except when they emerged for food, and when I decided I wanted to make a card and they had taken over the rumpus room (where all my crafting gear is kept). It was a lovely couple of days and I think my girls really enjoyed themselves. A good start to the holidays.

When I did finally get allowed back near my craft desk, I made a couple of cards using Altenew Striped Florals. I'm still not finished experimenting with this set. I really love it!

The first card I made for The Card Concept. It is a clean and simple card that I stamped and coloured using Copics.
Stamps are from Altenew Striped Florals and the sentiment is from Altenew Label Love.
I'm also entering this card into Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where the inspiration is "Happy Birthday".

I also made a card for The Challenge #28 which happens to be the one year anniversary challenge. I can't believe The Challenge has been going for a whole year and I haven't joined in yet! It's not that I haven't been inspired, I have, but I've never made the deadlines. :-(  Since it is a special occasion, I made a special effort and made a card to join in, in time. ;-)
Stamps are again Altenew Striped Florals and Label Love. I added a bit of gold twine for some extra texture and interest.
I'm also entering this card into Virginia's View Challenge #14. My card is a CAS version of layers and dimension. ;-)
Thank-you for visiting! I hope that I find some more time for stamping over this Easter long week-end. I'll definitely be back in a few hours with this week's CAS(E) This Sketch card. :-)

CAS(E) This Sketch 116

Hello!

I was away in Canberra last week. I usually spend my time in Belconnen (to the North of the city). This time I was in the South in Woden. On the street was a massive lemon squeezer - the ones with a handle that you press into the lemon. Only it's name is Droplet. I didn't get to see it at night, but in the day it was pretty awesome sitting there on the street corner. It's the work of artist Stuart Green. You can see it HERE or you might have already seen it on my Instagram account.. Brisbane has some amazing artwork on the streets too, but I think I've become a little immune to them! I should probably start photographing them and sharing here. :-)

This week I've been home. And I like it. I'm away again next week, but for the moment, I'm enjoying being home with my family. :-)

This is my contribution to CAS(E) This Sketch this week. I am using my new Altenew stamps, Striped Florals. I cannot wait to fully explore this set! It's beautiful!
I managed to fairly closely follow the sketch this week, although not exactly. ;-)
I'm going to add this to Darnell's NBUS Challenge #4 (when I wake up). This Altenew stamp set is brand new and this is the first card I've made with it.

I have a Facebook page where I also share my cards and links to my posts. Sometimes I share something not from the blog, but it is pretty much an alternative access to my blog (with much fewer words to get through). Would you like to check out the page and follow me if you like what you see? If you already follow me, but haven't seen my posts for a while... that's the way FB works, you just need to like or comment or visit every now and then to get the feed working again. ;-)

Now I'm off to bed for my beauty sleep! Thanks for visiting!
